FERGUS FALLS, Minn. — As cars passed by Gilbert Perry and Daphne Hunt's house, the anticipation started to grow, as they waited for Lori Christianson, who said a wedding dress found by the couple might be her mother's from when she got married in the 1950s.
"(Christianson and her husband) should know where the house is," Perry said, referencing the house he and Hunt live in used to belong to Christianson.
Once Christianson and her husband arrived, they took some time to check out the changes around the house.
Christianson said she didn't think the dress was her mother's at first.
"I thought, 'Who knows? Maybe a lot of the dresses from the '50s were like that,'" she said.
But as soon as Perry opened the box Sunday, Aug. 30, it all started to come back for her.
"It's in great shape, isn't it," Christianson said as she held up the dress. "Wow."
As she looked at the dress, she said it's in almost perfect condition from when her mother got married all those years ago.
Perry and Hunt then showed Christianson and her husband the hidden door on the second floor, where they originally found the dress.

"I'm kinda wondering if there's anything else in there," Christianson said with a laugh. "I don't know, it's just, who would've ever thought (a dress was in there)?"
While the dress was a strange find, Perry said he's happy he unearthed this special treasure.
"It could've been sold, it could've been thrown away accidentally, but this story's going to end the way it should," he said.
Christianson hopes to now bring the dress to her mother at her nursing home in Cottage Grove, Minn., sometime this week, as she said that would make this story complete.
"(The dress) will be held close to my heart, that's for sure," Christianson said.
