ELKO – Thunderstorms brought rain showers to parts of northeastern Nevada on Monday – including Spring Creek – but the city of Elko extended its dry streak to eight weeks.

Only a trace of rain fell in town. The last measurable precipitation was on June 29, when .22 of an inch was recorded at Elko’s airport.

Eureka received .09 of an inch of rain Monday, Wendover .08, and Winnemucca .04.

Tuesday started off with sunny skies but the National Weather Service is predicting a chance of isolated thunderstorms after 11 a.m.

“Little or no precipitation is expected,” stated the forecast.

Elko will see highs in the mid-90s for two more days before dropping to the lower 90s through Saturday and dipping into the 80s on Sunday and Monday.
