Election Day Dress Code: What to Wear to the Polls - Vogue

talu.indah.link

Ahead of next week’s pivotal presidential election, early voters are showing up to the polls in record-breaking numbers. The impressive turnout, however, has also meant long lines in many states. In New York, for example, some early voters have reported waiting in line for five or more hours. That, obviously, can be frustrating, but it’s never been so important to withstand waiting in a long line. So in addition to making a voting plan, you may want to also make sure you’re dressed for the occasion—rain, shine, or otherwise.

Before you head to the polls, here are a few helpful things you should know: First, and foremost, make sure you’re at the correct polling place. The last thing you want to do is wait for hours at the wrong precinct only to be turned away. You can find your assigned voting poll by entering your address into Vote.orgs location tool here. Don’t forget that elections have a dress code, which means you can also be turned away for what you’re wearing. The rules vary state by state, but a good rule of thumb is to avoid wearing merchandise that supports any particular candidate. And then there are the more practical considerations of what to wear. Put on your comfiest shoes, keep an umbrella in hand, and, of course, make sure you keep yourself and others safe by wearing a mask.

Below are some more helpful suggestions on what to wear to stay warm and dry, along with some handy accessories to make the wait a bit more tolerable.
