Notes:
• ‘Tis the season to wade through long lists of suggested books for holiday reading. Top of my list is Frankly Speaking, the autobiography of Frank Sisson. There’s a lot to tell of a proud wearer of a Booster Club Red Jacket as Sportsman of the Year who has been a Stampede volunteer for more than 40 years, for 50 years was involved in local and international bowling, owned Silver Dollar Casino, met with Muhammad Ali, ran car auctions and raised miniature horses. It is a lot of excitement to condense into one volume. Typical of a class act, Sisson is donating a portion of all money raised from sales to the Alberta Children’s Hospital, Mustard Seed and the Salvation Army. And that’s added to the $5,000 already donated to the Calgary Police Foundation.
• Matieu Plamondon, formerly a vice-president with Flyht, will be joining Canadian North on Jan. 2 as vice-president of charters and business development, based in its Calgary office. Canadian North is a 100 per cent Inuit-owned airline connecting people and delivering goods to 26 destinations throughout Canada’s North.
