If the adage is true that the higher the heel, the better you feel, you might imagine sales of stilettos would be soaring as women seek to give themselves a lift in these dark times.
Yet it seems the shoppers of 2021 have turned on their heels and embraced trainers instead.
Kurt Geiger, once synonymous with the 4in stiletto, will not launch a single new style of high heel in its spring-summer collection, focusing instead on flats and trainers.
The brand, worn by the Duchess of Sussex and the actresses Angelina Jolie and Emily Blunt, said although it “always” introduced a new heel each season, the decision was a reflection of the “complete reversal” of trends over the past five years.
