Baltimore woman wears wedding reception dress to get COVID-19 vaccine

Studley had to scale back her plans to get married in November 2020 in San Diego's Balboa Park."It became clear in June that it was probably going to be a bad idea," she said.She still got married in a small ceremony in San Diego. Then in January, she canceled the big party she had planned to have closer to home in June."It looked like there was no safe way to do it and it was so stressful, everyone was very understanding, in fact, of all of the feedback I got, 'Oh thank goodness you canceled, I was so worried,'" Studley said.Fast forward to Sunday. Studley reached for her fancy reception dress that had been hanging in her closet for months and wore it to get her first shot."I have this dress that I haven't had a chance to wear, it is a celebration. This is going to be the most people I've seen in a year and a half, so let's live it up and so I wore the dress to get my vaccine. I was just doing it for me, I was celebrating the day," she said.Studley said what made it extra special was the excited staff who greeted her at the stadium."That was just sort of a cherry on top," she said. "You can take away my party, but you can't take away ‘the party.'"Studley said she doesn't plan to wear the dress to get her second vaccine, but she's still thinking about what she could wear that will make it special.The stadium vaccination site is run as a partnership between the University of Maryland Medical System, the Maryland Department of Health, the Maryland National Guard and the Maryland Stadium Authority.
