Laura Dern wasn't up for an Oscar Sunday night but the presenter created quite a buzz on Twitter.
The actress, who won best supporting actress Oscar at last year's ceremony for "Marriage Story," arrived at Los Angeles' Union Station in an ornately feathered Oscar de la Renta frock, which contrasted its full skirt with a long-sleeved mock turtleneck top.
Twitter user @SuzyWrong raved the look was "so chic... I just love ostrich feathers."
Dern's dress gave former "Below Deck" personality Kate Chastain a mental boost. "Laura Dern’s #Oscars2021 dress made me feel seratonin levels I haven’t felt since 2019," she wrote. "LOVE"
"Absolutely fascinated by Laura Dern’s skirt," wrote @anita_magica. "I wanna pet it."

"Laura Dern's dress is the epitome of minimalist meets eccentricity," praised @poemless. "Adore."
Even naysayers admitted begrudging respect. "Laura dern looks like a feather duster but I love it," tweeted @popped_a_holly.
The gown made @bymatthewk think of another star (albeit fictional) whose favorite season is awards. "Laura Dern showed up as Moira Rose," the user posted, referring to the "Schitt's Creek" character who loves a black and white palette.
Dern also won fans when handing out the Oscar for best supporting actor. Before presenting the award to Daniel Kaluuya for "Judas and the Black Messiah," she sincerely complimented each nominee.
Dern thanked Kaluuya for his "extraordinary commitment and your endless research." She added: "I have been listening to you speak of your inspiration in Denzel Washington's performance in 'Malcolm X' and just to say how grateful we are for the inspiration you gave us, with not only the role, but the words you shared and the reminder that you can't murder freedom. Thank you."
Oscars speechesweren't played off this year. It meant Daniel Kaluuya got to shock his mom.
"all nominees should be announced via laura dern complimenting them for the rest of time," suggested @_jordanathomas_ "this should be the new practice."
"Imagine Laura Dern looking you in the eyes and listing all the great, inspiring things you’ve ever done," tweeted film & TV critic @CarolineSiede, giving us a fantasy we didn't know we needed.
In summary, she is too Dern good for this world.
