By SUSAN DROMEY HEETER, Joyful Musings
“Just click here.” It’s a command I muse joyfully I will not hear as much as my spring progresses. I’m done with clicking and mousing and screens. I’m ready to click off.
I once worked with a man whose shoes made a tapping sound on the tiles in our school hallway. To this day, a friend and I refer to him as “Click Click.” We’d ask, “Have you seen Click Click today?”
I don’t mind that type of click; it allowed for a warning he was on his way; his heels could be heard miles away. It was comforting. “Hey, Click Click is coming.”
But clicking these days has taken its toll. Sometimes I click without really giving it much thought – and then I’m down some rabbit hole of celebrity botox and I wonder how much of my life I’ve squandered learning of Nicole Kidman’s forehead. Click.
Last week I clicked on a dress made of parachute material. It was called, “Canopy Parachute Dress with Veil – Long.”
And as it was a gray, cold April day, I clicked on it and ordered what the model in the picture made look like a wispy angelic silhouette on the beach.
That dress has since arrived and suffice it to say, that click did not transform me into the model dancing on the beach, enveloped in parachute material, looking graceful and svelte and joyfully pleased. Rather, I look like the Michelin Man enveloped in a gray nylon material. One might ask, “How did you get beneath that circus tent and why are you wearing it as a dress?”
It’s been a long click of a year. Click. Click. Click. Today I’ll click on a book and a walk; I’ll click on my heels and take off from the mouse and the screens and unfortunate parachute fashion. I muse joyfully you will, too.
