Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury (HFHWM) launched their annual fundraiser Monday with an online auction, wine pull sponsored by Arrington Vineyards and a social media photo contest in preparation for the 2021 Hammers & High Heels event.
Hammers & High Heels is a special program and songwriters’ night benefitting Habitat for Humanity’s annual Women Build. This year’s theme is “A Night of Songs & Stories,” and the lineup includes songwriters Brennen Leigh, Noel McKay and Tammy Rogers King of the SteelDrivers.
The virtual broadcast event will take place online on May 20 from 7-8 p.m. and will once again be emceed by Dawn Davenport, Emmy award-winning sports broadcaster and co-host of the 3HL radio show on 104.5 The Zone.
This year’s future homeowner for the Women Build is single mother Searria Peoples and her four children. Peoples has put in 200 hours of sweat equity on her home and the homes of others this spring. She’s attended budget-coaching sessions, homeownership classes and will save $3,000 in closing costs to be eligible to purchase her house with an affordable mortgage.
Hammers & High Heels will benefit the Peoples family and this worthwhile cause. Silent auction registration is free, and bidding is open to the public. Virtual broadcast tickets are available for $20 and include access to the songwriters broadcast and full program. Additional add-ons, including dinner from Amerigo Italian Restaurant, can also be purchased.
The social media contest winners will also be announced during the event. Participants are asked to submit their best photos of high heels and hammers.
Patrons have become accustomed to enjoying Gray’s on Main signature cocktails as they enter the event space each year. To keep as close to tradition as possible, HFHWM will host a Facebook Live event on May 18 at 4 p.m. from Gray’s on Main to teach virtual attendees how to make their own signature cocktails at home — the “Hammer” and the “High Heel.”
