Katie Holmes is jumping on the gingham trend.
The actor and fashion icon rocked the picnic-blanket-esque style while out and about in New York City. I don't know about y'all, but gingham has been all over my Instagram Explore tab lately, and perhaps Holmes's too. It makes sense, as the style is perfect for early-summer days.

Holmes paired the breezy, loose frock with heeled sandals, a couple necklaces, sunglasses, and a cross-body bag. But the look would work just as well with sneakers and a tote if you're running errands. Holmes's purse is also from Kate Spade and retails for $258.
One important thing to note about this look: Holmes has bright red nails on her feet and hands, which really pulls everything together. When your outfit is mostly black-and-white, littles pops of color can keep things from looking too drab or monotone. So if you're into this dress, try pairing it with either bright-colored accessories, makeup, or nails à la Holmes. In her case, the red matches the red on her phone case. What can I say? Katie Holmes loves red! Maybe she saw Cruella and got inspired.
Holmes's style is just as popular as her Instagram account, which has more than 2 million followers. Her daughter, Suri, recently celebrated her 15th birthday, and Holmes marked the occasion on the ’gram. “Happy 15th Birthday Sweetheart! I love you!!!!!!!! ❤️💕😘 I can’t believe you are already 15,” she wrote. I wonder what she got Suri as a present. A matching gingham dress, perhaps?
