A determined grandma wasn't going to let bad weather stop her from doing as many steps as she could in memory of her beloved grandson.
Anne Holmes polished of her high heels for a sponsored walk around East Kilbride's heritage loch recently to raise vital funds for the charity Blood Cancer UK - walking the equivalent of 10K.
The 78-year-old is known for her love of high heels and never leaves the house without them on.
Her family lost grandson Lee Jamieson in August 2014 aged just 12 after a nine-month battle with leukaemia.
Since then Lee's mum, Elizabeth Anne, has worked tirelessly to raise funds for research and raise awareness of the work carried out by Blood Cancer UK through the 'Live it for Lee' charity.
An incredible £250,000 has already been raised in the schoolboy’s name, with funds from Live it for Lee funnelled into the ground-breaking research work of Professor Michelle West at the University of Sussex around the type of leukaemia Lee was diagnosed with.
Elizabeth Anne was delighted when her mum wanted to take on the high-heel challenge and was over the moon when she initially did three laps of the loch.
However, bad weather meant the charity walk had to start earlier and when the rain came on it means hardy Anne had to call it a day.
But that wasn't the end of it as far as Anne was concerned.
"I was so disappointed the first time round and felt cheated by the weather, " Anne told Lanarkshire Live.
"Three laps was nothing. But I knew I could do far more so I went back a few days later and did another six laps which was much more like it.
"It means I've done the equivalent of a 10K which makes me feel like I've achieved so much more in memory of Lee."
Anne added: “Lee was such a lovely, loving boy with a lot of energy and faithful to a tee. He hated to see wrong being done to anyone.
"I also admire my daughter so very much – I don’t know how she manages to do everything she does."
Elizabeth Anne added: "My mum is unstoppable. I knew nothing about the extra laps until she had done them - I couldn’t believe it, I was blown away. What she already did was amazing and I never expected her to go and do this.
"The equivalent of a 10K is an incredible feat. I can't thank her enough and everyone else for all the support they have shown us."
